BUMPdate: 16 weeks

Pregnancy Highlights: I feel like a real-life human again!! No more sickness, energy level is back! It's gloooorious!!
How Far Along: 16 weeks on the nose
Size of baby: Avocado, 4.6 inches, 3.5 oz
What's baby up to: Stinker's eyebrows, lashes & hair are coming in.  Also, the taste buds are forming.  Baby's tiny ear bones are formed and he/she can hear me now. I'm going to bet his/her first words are "No Tucker"
Total Weight Gained/Lost: 6ish pounds thanks to the beach gluttony and I'm sure my muscles.
Maternity Clothes: No official maternity clothes, although I did have to rubber band pair of shorts on vacation last week.
Gender: July 22nd, EVERYONE is on the girl wagon this time around. Not sure if they really think we are having a girl, or just really want us to have a girl. Drew and I (and a handful of friends) think it's another boy. Tucker can't make up his mind. He's straight "Baby Bubba" for a week, and then throws a "Baby Sissy" in there out of the blue.
Movement: Nothing that I can't blame on gas, but I'm paying closer attention these days just in case
Sleep: There are pee breaks, at least 2. Every night. Also, big T is cutting his 2nd year molars, so what is sleep exactly....
What I miss: Comfortably sunning on my belly
Cravings: I went through a sushi phase and I think I've burnt myself out for a while. I love goat cheese pesto dip again this time, and milk. I looooove milk.
Aversions: Smells still causing me to mouth breath a lot
Symptoms: Mainly just hormones, feeling pretty good right now, oh and my belly button is a science project already. It's gross.
Best Moment this week: Listening to Tucker talk to Baby Stinker in the mornings... "Hey Baby Stinker, I loves you. I'm your big brother." *Pat, Pat, Pat the belly*

14 Weeks and a full day of eating :)

16 Weeks

BUMPDate: 10.5 weeks

Post-dated due to announcement***

Pregnancy Highlights: Seeing Baby Stinker on the ultrasound at 10 1/2 weeks, Heartrate was 164 on this day. Baby Stinker was calm, cool, and collected throughout the ultrasound.
How Far Along: 10.5 weeks
Size of baby: Kumquat, Just over an inch, less than a 1/4 of an ounce
Total Weight Gained/Lost: Nothing at this point
Maternity Clothes: Dresses combat the bloat, that showed up even earlier this time around
Gender: Late-July, I'm sensing a BOY for now, but it may be a biased idea because it's all I know
Movement: None yet
Sleep: Crazy, Crazy, Crazy dreams
What I miss: I have learned since Tuck, that everything is ok in moderation. What I do miss is my energy... uggghhhhh sweet sweet energy.
Cravings: Watermelon (cliche I know), granny smith apples, sour patch kids
Aversions: I have had a nose like a blood hound since just before finding out and it hasn't worked in my favor very often.
Symptoms: Bloating, some heartburn, painfully tired, raging hormone roller coaster, hungry for anything and everything
Best Moment this week: Seeing that sweet little bitty baby.

Ohhhhh baby.... Here we go again....

Written April 8, 2014

Oh baby...

This morning I woke up with a little wonder in my heart. You see, your Daddy and I have been waiting on you. We knew that when the time was right you would be ours. I managed to muster up the energy to drag myself out of bed, and remember to grab the magic wand before I got "started with my morning". 3 minutes later I found myself on my knees in the bathroom floor crying and praising your wonderful creator and your creation. I was overwhelmed with emotion: joy, comfort, SHOCK, fear... I ran the gamut. Because I'm lazy I snapped a pic of the 2-lined truth teller and sent it to your Daddy, who was just downstairs. I knew he received it when I heard the recliner slam into an upright position and his feet come bounding up the stairs. He jumped up and down in the bathroom like a little kid. It was perfect. We couldn't be more excited. Your big brother Tuck is excited too. Well, kinda. He says "today" that he wants a "sissy". We love you little bitty bit. Welcome to the circus. The cotton candy is fresh!

Because I'm a Mom...

Because I care.. But mostly because I believe in a God who is so good to those who believe in him and all his glory. A God, whose love is so BIG we will NEVER know its end.
I know MaryLeigh through a couple different avenues now. We are both boy moms and do our best to keep each other up to date on all things cool, fun and boy. You may remember the packages of bow ties I received while incubating the babe. ML and her B Team fed my addiction day after day. ML and Nick are now adding a little PINK to their all boy brood. Help them get their sweet little Nell home! They are doing a t-shirt and print fundraiser and they are waaaay cute! Get a couple for yourself! And tell them I sent ya! ;)

Truth.. it ain't all butterflies and rainbows...

Dear Future Mothers of America,
These are the things your friends won't tell you because they don't want to scare you.
After recent events, ask me anything.. I WILL be honest with you. I WILL prepare you to the best of my ability. It ain't all rainbows and butterflies ladies, and anyone who says it is must be addicted to their pain pills  and have a live-in nanny.
This..... is the truth....

And my totally biased comments:
1.) This ain't NO lie gals, go to your nearest pharmacy and stock up on these for home. You won't be sorry.

2.) I looked, and it's a good thing I did because my sparkle box had pulled her most dramatic Scarlette O'hara fainting spell and tried to roll over and die. You WILL look like Frankenstien down there, don't be scared. Also, snag as many peri-bottles (the bottle you squirt your pee off with) from the hospital as you have bathrooms at home. That way you aren't toting it around or trying to run to the bathroom that has it. You WON'T be running anywhere. :) My sweet husband went to pick me up an extra from Wal-Mart, I just assumed they would have something similar.... he came back with this...
Gatorade 32 Oz Water Bottle
Funny thing is, it's my favorite hose down bottle. hahaha

3.) Plan on wearing the same thing home that you wore to the hospital. You will only go down from 9 months to 6 months pregnant.

4.) I cried more in the week after Tuck arrived than I did my ENTIRE pregnancy. True story. You are going to be soooo overwhelmed with the instantaneous love you feel for your bundle of joy that you won't know how to process it.
It. is. okay.
Let it out, cry baby cry.

5.) I haven't experienced this yet, however I never got those luscious model locks as everyone promised, nor the boobs. I continued taking my prenatal vitamins after because I was nursing and I assume that's why I still have hair.

6.) Prime example number 1 of things not being rainbows and butterflies. I just assumed that babies came out diligently searching for the milk source on your chest. That's the sole purpose of boobs right??? Well.... it's not that easy for everyone. Not all babies pop out and latch on. For numerous reasons it doesn't work out for everyone, and sometimes it doesn't work out for those who want it the most. Don't get discouraged. Keep on trying. It will happen if you can keep with it. If not, there is nothing wrong with pumping. (warning, it's mundane and miserable). There is also NOTHING wrong with formula. I'm a formula baby, and I think I am pretty awesome. Tuck is now completely a formula baby and he is thriving. I am tempted to break the pump back out however because the ole jugs are still a leakin'. It's seriously frustrating. Another note, breastfeeding with leave your knockers lifeless afterwards. Be prepared for that. Just another rainbow for ya.

7.) Keep this one thing in mind.. if you go to jail, you CAN NOT care for that sweet baby you just brought into the world.

8.) There is no lie behind this. I felt like I was sleeping in the pits of hades. All. the. time. This lasted a good month for me.

9.) I never experienced this in full force since I only nursed for 2 weeks. (thanks malfunctioning sparkle box that put me back into the hospital) I did experienced some pain, and I can't imagine how bad it could get.

10.) Truth. 3 enemas in 2 days. This is real life at its finest folks. Eat raisins, drink prune juice, lots of leafy greens and for goodness sake... take your freaking Colace like there's a shortage about to hit. I started it 2 weeks or more before due date and still thought I was dying when Brutis (my first poo) was delivered. Tears were shed. Not happy ones.

Here's wishing all you preggers a safe and speedy labor, delivery and recovery.

BUMPdate: 38 weeks, "He's just a little fellar"

Hubbs and I had our weekly visit on Wednesday:
1.) Baby Boy's estimated gypsy weight is 6lbs 3 ozs, (I say gypsy weight because ultrasounds are not  scales, they are more like crystal balls)
2.) He is currently measuring the size of a 35 and 1/2 week baby (He's just a little guy)
3.) I have A LOT of amniotic fluid
4.) HE HAS HAIR!!!! Praise the Lord this heartburn has not been in vain
5.) He is FOR SURE head down
6.) He is FOR SURE still a boy
7.) Tests confirm that I indeed DO NOT have "Strep in My Butthole". You can thank the husband for that phrase. He's hilarious, really. In other words {more accurate ones} my GBS test came back negative so I will need no antibiotics once labor begins, nor will I initially be required to spend an extra 24 hours in the hospital. Hubbs likes to joke and sometimes he's pretty dang funny.
My cubicle DOES have fresh arrangements to great you. Be jealous.

Pregnancy Highlights: NO STRETCHMARKS (that any of YOU will ever be allowed to see) and still being able to wear my wedding rings (kinda, my wedding band and engagement ring are different sizes, I may have to only sport the band soon)!!! D-Day is almost here!
How Far Along: 38 weeks, Tuck is considered FULL TERM at this point and can safely arrive at any time,
Size of baby:  Pumpkin, {I've decided the person who compares babies to different produce has the lamest job on the planet. And possibly, the most inaccurate} around 18.9-20.9 inches long (pretty major range there) Estimated weight of 6lbs 3 ozs
What is baby up to:  Preparing for his entrance into this great big world; blinking, swallowing, sucking, inhaling, exhaling, gripping. Apparently he already has a strong grip. He's also working hard on his first poo. The sticky, black, tarry one.
Gained/Lost: Monday morning weigh in revealed I had lost a pound. Go me. Wednesday's doctor visit revealed that I had found said lost pound. Oh well.
Maternity Clothes: I will NOT take this opportunity to complain about being pregnant and it being 106+ degrees outside. I will ONLY say that the less clothing I have to wear the better, so I apologize if I offend you with my showing skin. It's almost over folks, just bear with me. :)
Gender: BOY!! Tucker Andrew Edgington
Movement: Tucker is head down and his activity level is right back to normal. Although his space is a little more limited he still makes the most of it.
Sleep:  I wake up every 2 hours almost exactly to use the restroom. I can only sleep on my side with something wedged between my knees and slightly under my expanding mid section. I miss cuddling my husband.
What I miss:  Good sleep, Relief from air conditioning and painting my own toes when need be. Dressing in super cute little dresses. Trust me, you don't want me to try that right now.  Being the BIG spoon or little spoon with the Hubbs.
Cravings: Chocolate... cupcakes, milkshakes, candy bars... doesn't matter to me.
Aversions: It's a teensy bit warm outside for a pregger
Symptoms:  Heartburn, Back and hip pain.  Swollen ankles and feet come and go.
Best Moment this week:  My preggy pal Madison got the best surprise ever this week.... This sweet little bundle of PINK!!! World, this is Bethany. She MAY be Tuck's wife one day.
Are those lips not the most precious things EV ER ????
This makes me very anxious for Tucker man's arrival. My little preggy pals that I have conversed with for the past 9 months have all delivered at this point. I like to think Tucker is just being punctual. Sweet boy, must get that from his Daddy. :)

The Birthing Class Experience, Part 1

This post is obviously late.. very late...it also contains adult content. You've been warned.

Monday evening Hubbs and I headed to the hospital for our first of 4 birthing classes. Everyone we know has been extremely encouraging about doing these, and very honest on what to expect.... so we thought. Turns out, our friends and acquaintances are BIG. FAT. LIARS.

We arrived at our class fashionably early as to prove we were committed students, ready to be sponges, ready to learn it all!!! It didn't take long for the Hubbs to start cracking jokes in my ear and distracting me with his "comments". As I was taking notes, you know, being a very studious mom-to-be, I started jotting down some of the things that came flying out of the Hubbs' mouth and some of the things that had us both rolling with laughter. If you were in Education Room 3 last night and trying to pay attention.. my apologies, Hubbs' and I deal with uncomfortable situations with humor. And lots of it. Without further adieu, let the hilarity ensue.......
THE LIST:
*Interesting side note, of the 15 babes to come 11 were boys, 3 were girls and 1 was a surprise. Dating pool is gonna be a little lop sided.

  • "Are we all about to get naked" ??
    • The lights dim, the video starts and the low hum of drums fills the room. Hubbs looks at me and very shyly says "Are we all about to get naked??"  followed by a BIG grin
  • All night nurse Tabitha went on and on about eating the delicious cookies that had been provided. Granted the spread looked delightful, but it's hard to shove chocolate chip delights in my mouth when you immediately follow it up with talk of my impending "bloody show"
  • The "Sniff" Test
    • Nurse T also touched on the off chance that my water may break. Apparently this only happens with 10% of most women. Pretty disappointing since Hollywood has played it up so big in every pregnancy scene since the beginning of time. Nurse T says if you think your water may have broken but you are unsure, just do the sniff test. It will have a sweet smell. Gross. Just Gross.
  • Ring of Fire- Johnny Cash had it SOOOOOOOOOOOO wrong. Not. even. close.
  • I Need a Translator- when showing a video concerning the birth of my child please interview and record those that can accurately express to me what is happening. For example:
    • "I puss and I puss and he dust pop out" Translated, "I push and I push and just popped out"
  • Spider Web Stretch Marks- This poor poor woman. Never in my life have I ever felt so bad for someone. This lady, who was of pale skin and red haired decent, had the most intricately woven spider web of BRIGHT RED stretch marks. When her birthing scene flashed up on the screen I gasped. Aloud. I was stunned and scarred..... but then.... there was .......
  • The Surprise Vagina- they panned down ever so swiftly to this woman's woman hood. Keep in mind I said she had red hair previously. You're welcome. I'm not sure whose jaw hit the floor the fastest, mine or Hubbs'. We both dropped our jaws, then dropped our heads, unable to function. And that's all we can recall from class one......

"Don't Drink the Water"

My friend Pattern (Patten, Aaron, call him what you will) gave me this piece of advice a while back and it's funny to think about now because it's more true than ever. At the time he shared this little nugget of advice, everyone we knew was popping up pregnant... well, we THOUGHT everyone we knew.. then there were 20 MORE people that we knew that were pregnant. I currently have 6 sorority sisters that are expecting and numerous Friends and Facebook acquaintances who are expecting. The day we went public I received a private FB message from my old friend Madison. She and I went to Tech together and ran in most of the same circles. She congratulated Hubbs and I and also let me in on a little secret, she TOO was expecting! We swapped a few war stories and she shared with me her blog. She has been keeping a log since Day 1 one of the adventure that will be motherhood. It's fantastic. She leaves no detail untold and at times it's heart breaking and at times you (well I was) laughing so hard I was crying. Seriously, I read the entire blog in one day and I had a headache from laughing and crying. It's nice to know I'm not alone right now, and other gals just like me (who I know in real life) are experiencing all the cool, weird, and grossness that come with growing a tiny little mini human. I hope you will enjoy Maddie's blog as I have thus far!!

They got me again...

Only briefly touching on the excitement I felt and quickly lost Saturday as I watched the Vols play.. UUUUGGGGHHHHHHHHHH.. thank you for your time.

We traveled east this weekend to Tazewell for some family fun time and catching up with friends and their babies!! Saturday the Hubbs spent some quality time with the Brother, which allowed for MotherDearest and I to do what we do best.. SHOP!! Mom and I set out Saturday morning on a mission! We scoured thrift stores, Goodwill and antique stores. Only to come up empty handed.. in the knick knack department that is. I scored BIG TIME at Goodwill:
Peachy/Orange pencil- $3

Plum Pencil- $3

Chambray Camp Shirt- $2.50

J Crew cable knit sweater- $2.50

and found these little babies on clearance at another store for 4 bones!!:

I'm in the process of putting together a gallery wall for our master bathroom. I've slowly started collecting and creating pieces to go on it but it's missing SOMETHING. I knew when I saw it the light bulb would glow. We didn't have any luck on Saturday in our hunt for treasures. I have since been inspired by a Pinterest find, imagine that if you will. I think I may pick up one or two of these and give them a shot of spray paint:
Ceiling medallions

Hubbs and I had a busy Sunday running around to see all our favorite East Tennessee babes.. first up.. "Kohen's Fall Festival" (his 1st birthday)
LOVE this face

Deliciousness

Sweet boy

Lovin' Mommy

Just barely missed Brylee's Pose.. she's a pro

"Why is everyone staring at me?"

Hmm....

Not so sure about it

Daddy's Boy

We also got to love on sweet baby girl Sophia. It was Hubbs' first time seeing her in person. Her mommy is one of my very bestest friends and I love that little girl soooo very much!

Good weekend for us! Good food, Great friends and lots of laughs!
