(I wrote this to capture the joy of the day...sorry you all had to wait for it...)
Today, November 4th, is a day that I will never ever forget for the rest of my days. I woke this morning excited because it was Friday. Excited because some of my best friends were coming to town for the weekend and excited to see old friends at TTU Homecoming. I was also secretly excited because today, November 4th, is the day that I found out I was going to be a MOM. (ME, A MOM, I know RIGHT ??!??!!) (Brief pause for those who've fainted and are coming to at this moment)
This morning, the smartest piece of technology you will ever pee on changed my life.
It's faint, but I assure you it's there! |
It was a pretty funny scene actually...
Hubbs was in the shower when the I took THE TEST. I sat it down waited for about 20 seconds and saw the dark pink line... sat there for another 30 seconds and squinted to be sure.. yep.. there was a faint pink line coming through. I smiled and said, "Hey Drew, I think we did it." He replies, "Did what?" I laughed, pulled the shower curtain back and with a big smile on my face said, "A baby. I think we made a baby." A huge grin spread across his face and he said, "Get my glasses!!" (HAHAHAHA) We just stared at it. Hubbs immediately started saying he had known all along... riiiiiiiight.. I was convinced it would be negative. I like a good surprise I guess! I wanted to pick up the phone and call everyone right away. HARDEST SECRET TO KEEP EVEEEER!!! Especially a ceremonious weekend like HOMECOMING taking place. I stopped at CVS later on that day and bought another box (or two), just to be sure.. you can never be too sure. I called the OBGYN that afternoon, "Can I come take a pee test??". And I was off.. Faint line confirmed. 4 weeks on the nose. They laughed at me because I'd come so early. better safe than sorry right ??
Yes, it's wrapped in plastic wrap. if the pee stick is sticking around, it had to be done. |
We went to the doctor December 16th for our first appointment and got to hear Squirt's (yep, that's the gender neutral nickname) heartbeat for the first time. It sounded like a washing machine 3 rooms away on the spin cycle. (174 for your baby junkies). We also got to have an ultrasound. Still a little alienish, but Squirt has extremely long legs. It was so surreal to lay there and see this littly bitty tiny person inside my belly.
Baby E at 10 weeks |
Favorite Christmas so far, besides the obvious of course |
So very happy for you both!
