Spreading the News..

When we were in Asheville for family Christmas we told my side of the family about our joyous news..
I picked up this nifty DIY Lottery ticket idea from (one guess) Pinterest. Thank You Pinterest. I will never have another original idea for the rest of my life...
Here's a quick tute for the "Holiday Green" scratch offs:
(hope you weren't too disappointed by the lack of dollar amount under your silver shavings family dear)

Start with your handy dandy word program.
Find a picture and ad whatever text you please.
I made my document 3 columns and had plenty. (how many pages will depend on the amount of tickets you plan to make)

I cut each one out and applied it to some heavy construction paper:

Then onto a festive cardstock for stability:

Cover the entire sheet in contact paper and trim out your cards:

Add the "scratch off" (my online guide suggested one part dish soap to 2 parts paint)
I used Dawn dish soap and Metallic Acrylic paint in silver.
Paint on a thin layer and allow to dry.
Apply as many layers as it takes to cover the image:

Pass them out and watch the fun!!!

Uhhh... Maybe Next Year

If you have asked me lately, "When are You and Hubbs going to have a baby?" or "Are you guys pregnant yet?" then you have either A.) Gotten your head politely bitten off or B.) gotten the answer "Uhhh.. Maybe next year" .. If you got answer B. then you asked at a very particular time.. as I did not want to tell a lie to anyone that asked nor spill the beans just yet, I came up with the cookie cutter answer of "Uhhh..maybe next year". Spill the beans ??!!??? What beans ??!!??

(I wrote this to capture the joy of the day...sorry you all had to wait for it...)

Today, November 4th, is a day that I will never ever forget for the rest of my days. I woke this morning excited because it was Friday. Excited because some of my best friends were coming to town for the weekend and excited to see old friends at TTU Homecoming. I was also secretly excited because today, November 4th, is the day that I found out I was going to be a MOM. (ME, A MOM, I know RIGHT ??!??!!) (Brief pause for those who've fainted and are coming to at this moment)

This morning, the smartest piece of technology you will ever pee on changed my life.
It's faint, but I assure you it's there!

It was a pretty funny scene actually...
Hubbs was in the shower when the I took THE TEST. I sat it down waited for about 20 seconds and saw the dark pink line... sat there for another 30 seconds and squinted to be sure.. yep.. there was a faint pink line coming through. I smiled and said, "Hey Drew, I think we did it." He replies, "Did what?" I laughed, pulled the shower curtain back and with a big smile on my face said, "A baby. I think we made a baby." A huge grin spread across his face and he said, "Get my glasses!!" (HAHAHAHA) We just stared at it. Hubbs immediately started saying he had known all along... riiiiiiiight.. I was convinced it would be negative. I like a good surprise I guess! I wanted to pick up the phone and call everyone right away. HARDEST SECRET TO KEEP EVEEEER!!!  Especially a ceremonious weekend like HOMECOMING taking place. I stopped at CVS later on that day and bought another box (or two), just to be sure.. you can never be too sure. I called the OBGYN that afternoon, "Can I come take a pee test??". And I was off.. Faint line confirmed. 4 weeks on the nose. They laughed at me because I'd come so early. better safe than sorry right ??

Yes, it's wrapped in plastic wrap. if the pee stick is sticking around, it had to be done.

It's been pretty funny giving some of you the "Uhhh..Maybe next year answer" and dodging others with very thought out rebuttals. So if you thought I lied to you, think again.. you knew it.. you just didn't know you knew it.. and "Maybe next year" wasn't a lie.. Estimated date of arrival for Baby E is July 13th, 2012.
We went to the doctor December 16th for our first appointment and got to hear Squirt's (yep, that's the gender neutral nickname) heartbeat for the first time. It sounded like a washing machine 3 rooms away on the spin cycle. (174 for your baby junkies). We also got to have an ultrasound. Still a little alienish, but Squirt has extremely long legs. It was so surreal to lay there and see this littly bitty tiny person inside my belly.

Baby E at 10 weeks
We are so excited and nervous and anxious.. say a little prayer for us.. we're gonna need it !!

Favorite Christmas so far, besides the obvious of course

Griswald Family Christmas

Well we did it again, we left our stamp on another unsuspecting town at Christmas time.
This year we graced Asheville, NC with our festive presence.

Saturday we did a little shopping downtown and grabbed some lunch at a local joint. I recommend checking out the Mast General Store and the local shops. You'll find lunch at Bistro 1896 deeeelicious. Their chicken salad is seriously tasty!!

After lunch we headed over to the Biltmore Estate for family photo time. (We haven't had an update family picture made in 2 children and 2 spouses time, that's 7 years) You could pick us out of the tourist crowd as we were all clad in some shade of purple. Not completely planned but not a random surprise. Here are a few behind-the-scenes shots:

We also squeezed in a tour of this gorgeous estate and some traditional Christmas bingo!
We also scored some sweet presents:

Box O Rocks from the brother.. he's real sweet
Loving my new wrist candy

Hubbs says this is running a close second to the recliner he got last year
